This week’s lesson reminds us that the Book of Mormon is many things, but among them, it is the story of a family— one living in a world of wickedness, not unlike our families today.
Like our families today, the Lord promised them safety if they followed him. He taught them, blessed them, showed them the way. As we follow their journey, and observe the outcomes of generational choices, we can find answers to the challenges presented to our own families.
“The Family: A Proclamation to the World” summarizes God’s plan for all of his children. Studying it along with the Book of Mormon this year can provide important insights into your family’s circumstances.
Families don’t have to be perfect to be blessed by the teachings in the Book of Mormon and the proclamation.
An apostle of God has promised that “Even if important parts of [the plan of happiness] aren’t fulfilled in your life now, they will be yours in the Lord’s due time. I also promise you that you can have significant growth and happiness now in your present circumstances. As a daughter or son of God, live whatever portion of the plan you can to the best of your ability.”
