With concerning world events swirling around us, many are looking for a refuge from the storms that are coming.

The late President Boyd K. Packer answered these concerns when he taught:

“We face the challenge of raising families in the world in darkening clouds of wickedness. Some of our members are unsettled, and sometimes they wonder: Is there any place one can go to escape from it all? Is there another town or a state or a country where it is safe, where one can find refuge? The answer generally is no. The defense and the refuge is where our members now live.”

This week’s Come, Follow Me lesson also answers these questions:

“Yea, and then shall the work commence, with the Father among all nations in preparing the way whereby his people may be gathered home to the land of their inheritance” (3 Nephi 21:28).”

The work of gathering is happening in unprecedented ways with unprecedented temple building right now, and it can be summed up into one clear sentence from “The Family: A Proclamation to the World”:

“Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally.”

The Lord is gathering His people in every land because He is instructing His prophet to build holy temples in every land. Why? Because everywhere there is a temple there is more light, more opportunities for ordinance and covenants, and more refuge from the world,
