In a world full of commotion and darkness, we have every right to be concerned about protecting our children. But we also need to have faith. Faith in the light that Jesus Christ brings to our world and, importantly, to our families.
Elder Robert D. Hales taught, “The Lord is our light and, literally, our salvation. Like the sacred fire that encircled the children in 3 Nephi 17, His light will form a protective shield between you and the darkness of the adversary as you live worthy of it. You need that light. We need that light. learn to claim the protective light of the gospel as your own.”
You many wonder how you can do that. The answers can be found in ancient and modern scripture.
In the Book of Mormon, parents brought their children to the Savior. Then, angels came from heaven and ministered to the children. They were encircled about by holy fire.
Just like in ancient times, when we bring our children to the Savior and teach them modern scripture, doctrine, and commandments, like those found in “The Family: A Proclamation to the World” there is a protective shield formed around our children. The more we teach and testify of these truths, the stronger the shield will be.
As the days ahead increase darkness and wickedness, so too will there be an added measure of light and righteousness and protection as we keep our family safely surrounded by the shield of truth.
