This week’s lesson is filled with good news. For instance:
1. We have choices (with agency and accountability for the ones we make).
2. We can crush the serpent’s head (we might do that with a bruised heel, which is no small thing, have you ever stepped on a lego? But it’s empowering to know we are stronger, bigger, and equipped to overcome Satan and his deceptions).
3. God can protect us from temptations we can’t endure (like placing Cherubim to guard the tree after the Fall. Another reminder that our Father will set us up for success).
“The Family: A Proclamation to the World” reads, “The first commandment that God gave to Adam and Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife.”
The first commandment given to man and woman on earth had everything to do with forming a family.
How might the good news of this week’s lesson help you in forming, strengthening, and supporting the family you belong to?
Family life provides lots of choices, agency and accountability. This week’s lesson reminds us that choices can lead to growth and that is the purpose of the Father’s plan.
Family life can bruise a heel now and then, but we are blessed with power to overcome. God continued to send instruction and heavenly help even after Adam and Eve left the garden. He will bless us with help as well.
Family can provide us with a shield to face life’s challenges together. “Our family is the focus of our greatest work and joy in this life; so will it be throughout all eternity.” (President Nelson | Oct 2001)
We can count that as good news too.
