Feeling chaotic? Needing a sense of order?
A house of order…. for most people that means clean, tidy, organized. Verse 119 of section 88 in this week’s Come Follow Me lesson, directs us to organize and prepare ourselves. It calls, among other things, for a house of order. It says, “Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God;…”
Order is not just tidy, it also refers to procedure, authority and function. The very first paragraph of The Family: A Proclamation to the World gives us a valuable “order” to consider when organizing ourselves and homes. It begins with, “We, the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim…”
God is the author of the order of the prophet and apostles. God is the author of the “order of heaven.” God is the author of the power that ordains eternal families. We have the choice to decide if He will be the author of our individual lives.
In a noisy, fallen, confusing world, we can have answers and peace in the order God has authored for us.
